Oralfacial Myofunctional Therapy
Oromyofunctional therapy focuses on optimizing tongue positioning and oral function. Beyond addressing speech sounds, therapists work on issues like tongue thrust, jaw problems, orofacial habits, and speech difficulties. Assessments involve history-taking, oral motor exams, and observations of swallowing. Post-assessment, therapists offer recommendations and determine if treatment is needed. Treatment involves committed home practice and regular 30-minute sessions, akin to physiotherapy for the tongue. While in-person sessions are preferred, online therapy can be effective for some adults and older children.
Occupational Therapy for Kids & Teens
We currently have a waitlist for on-going occupational therapy services. If you would like to join our waitlist, please contact info@victoriaspeechlanguage.ca
Once you've joined our waitlist, you can book an OT Initial Consultation with our therapists. This is a 1hr intake with one of our experienced Occupational Therapists. They will speak with you directly about your child to understand your specific concerns and goals and help form an OT plan for when we have a spot for you.
Frenectomy Oralfacial Myofuntional Therapy
These appointments are for those that require OMD sessions pre and post frenectomy (tongue-tie release).
